Join 'Baloo' and bring the 'Bear Necessities' to Asia's suffering bears this Christmas ~ Bloomsbury Theatre, London on Monday, 22nd, 7-9PM. Tickets available now!Join 'Baloo' and bring the 'Bear Necessities' to Asia's suffering bears this Christmas. In June 2008 two tiny Asiatic black bear cubs were rescued from a bear bile farm by Vietnamese authorities and handed over to the Animals Asia Foundation. Weighing just 6kg, thay had been wild caught and were destined for a lifetime of torture and pain, being "milked" of their bile as an ingredient in traditional Chinese medicine, despite the practice being illegal in Vietnam since 2005. The cubs have now joined three others rescued last year, and become some of the first residents of the brand new Animals Asia bear sanctuary outside Hanoi. Like all young animals, they are revelling in their new life of freedom, running staff ragged, enjoying their new toys and good food, so different from the life originally intended for them. However, a further 12,000 bears remain trapped in a life of agony in farms across China and Vietnam. Animals Asia is working with government authorities to rescue further victims of the bear bile trade and bring this barbaric practice to an end. Thanks to the generosity of the Birmingham Stage Company, a gala evening of Rudyard Kipling's famous tale "The Jungle Book" is being held at the Bloomsbury Theatre, London on Monday, 22nd December, 7-9 pm. Tickets are priced at £20 with all profits going to help Asia's sufferng bears. This will be a fantastic family event. Come to London, see the Christmas lights and enjoy the antics of Mowgli, Baloo and Bagheera. Plan your festive outing this year and make a difference to the future of the thousands of bears that are not as fortunate as these adorable cubs.
