WOODLEY EQUIPMENT DONATES BLOOD PRESSURE MONITOR TO THE AAFBack2008-10-24
Woodley equipment have donated a blood pressure monitor to the aaf to help with the recovery of the moon bears that have been rescued from bile farm.
Dr Jen O'Dwyer BVSc (Hons) of the Animals Asia Foundation Vietnam Bear Rescue Centre has contacted Woodley to say how grateful everyone at AAF were for the generous donation of a blood pressure monitor. She said "it will be in use for all our anaesthetics as such equipment allows us to more accurately adjust our anaesthesia and evaluate fluid requirements which ensures a much safer anaesthetic and a smoother recovery". Woodley Equipment donated the Blood Pressure Monitor to the Animals Asia Foundation Vietnam Bear rescue Centre, to help with the recovery of the moon bears that have been rescued from torturous bile farms. In Vietnam, while bear bile farming is technically illegal, the practice is still widespread. The bears are drugged - usually with ketamine - restrained with ropes and have their abdomens repeatedly jabbed with four-inch needles until the gall bladder is found. The bile, which is used in traditional medicine, is then extracted with a pump. This horrendous treatment of the bears is totally unnecessary as the medicine is completely replaceable by cheaper herbs and synthetics.
