What is Relaxin?
Relaxin is a hormone secreted by the placenta soon after implantation of the embryo. Unlike progesterone it is only found in pregnancy, not in false pregnancy.

Relaxin is the only reliable hormone for early pregnancy diagnosis in bitches and queens.

When test?
The test can be performed at just 30 days post-mating, and will give a 100% accurate result in just ten minutes!

Why test?
Confirmation of pregnancy is useful for a number of reasons:

• early detection of pregnancy
• monitoring of pregnancy
• confirmation of unwanted pregnancy before abortive treatment
• assessment of need for false pregnancy treatment
• confirmation of foetal resorption(one of the causes of apparent infertility)

* Canine: 100% sensitivity (for a population of 37 pregnant bitches, 30 days after mating (27 days after ovulation)).

** Feline: 100% sensitivity (for a population of 17 breeded queens, 10 pregnant ones and 7 non-pregnant with samples received between day 24 and 28 of pregnancy. 98% specificity for 23 non-pregnant bred queens, 2 false positives (ovarian cyst problems).
