Microscope and Slides Donated to Bwengu Projects in Malawi

2011-12-29

Woodley Lab Diagnostics were pleased to donate a Vision Microscope Max-200 and microscope slides to Bwengu Projects, a small NGO in Malawi in October 2011.

Each year Bwengu Projects work in North Malawi, completing various building projects of local village schools, churches and medical centers and generally supporting the community. Part of their work is in the provision of self managing food projects providing for orphans and other children.

As part of the Bwengu Medical Centre Equipment Project, Woodley Lab Diagnostics were pleased to donate a microscope and slides to the centre. Ran by Tony and Sue Melia, Bwengu Projects had to transport the medical equipment in their suitcases to Malawi. Bwengu Projects commented “The district medical officer was very fulsome in her thanks, saying a number of these medical monitors and testing kits are not available in the main hospitals. She further indicated because they are available at Bwengu more Malawi student nurses will be directed to Bwengu to be trained in the use of this equipment”.
